Employment services firms, often referred to as temp agencies or staffing agencies, represent a growing part of the national economy. These firms contract with other firms to supply workers to fill temporary staffing needs without adding to the payroll or benefits expenditures of the client firm. Employment services firms provide flexible staffing needs in an increasingly “just-in-time” business environment beset by global pressures. In the seven-county Twin Cities metropolitan region, employment in staffing agencies has grown substantially over the last decade and is likely to continue growing into the future.
